Before we went we were 'warned' about driving in Rome. We decided to give it a go anyway and apart from the occasional driver for whom lane discipline and indicating were optional we had little difficulty getting around or finding parking, and we had a 9-seater mini-van! If you are thinking about staying on the outskirts and travelling into cities I'd say give it a go!
