Cheap Car Hire Rovigo

Enjoy the Refreshing Natural Environment

Rovigo is a middle-sized city in the region of Venetia and is situated approximately half way between the triangle of Padua, Bologna and Verona.  Thanks to a good connection with the motorway A13 these cities as well as other destinations a little further away can be easily reached in your hired car.  At first you should stay in this wonderful area and enjoy the refreshing natural environment.  The countryside is very dense near to the Po- Delta, luscious greenery under the blue skies with further marshland up to the horizon.  Only from time to time, small ponds break up the vegetation.

In contrast to many other cities in Italy, Rovigo is not of Roman origin but was founded in the middle-ages and possesses heavy fortifications which can still be seen today.  Apart from the big thick walls the city, like the surrounding area is bright and airy.  Well worth seeing is the Renaissance Palace- Palazzo Roncale by the famous architect Michele Sanmicheli from the 16th century with its copious rooms and beautiful decorations.  The Baroque cathedral is impressive with its expansive interior decoration. And the renaissance pilgrimage church Chiesa della Beata Vergine del Soccorso displays some of the famous Venetian masters. A high profile school for oil painters can be found further over the city boarder called Concordi Academy.  The school was founded in the 16th Century.  The Academy and the affiliated art gallery can be visited.

Satisfy Your Appetite

After such an art and culture tour you definitely regain your strength as in the surrounding areas there is much more to see, but with a rumbling stomach it is only half as much fun.  Everyone knows the Italian cuisine but in Italy everything always tastes so much better.  The order of courses is very much dependent on the seasons.  Here, in Rovigo and in the Po valley lots of rice and polenta is eaten and of course seafood from the nearby Adria.  Wine will perhaps be served also- in this region its almost all white wine that is produced for example Soave and Prosecco.

Bologna, south from Rovigo did in fact invent Spaghetti Bolognese however here it’s called Spaghetti al Ragł.#

Take a Look at Some Amazing Works of Architecture

After your meal you should go on a few trips in the region in your hired car- there are many sights worth seeing on the way.  Architecture fans will definitely want to see one or another of the many villas which are dotted about the area.  You will find the Villas are quite crowded particularly the ones of the famous architect Andrea Palladio on the Brenta Canal, north east from Rovigo.  The wonderfully beautiful villas of Padua can be visited on a pleasant boat trip.

Wind-down After Sightseeing

Before you dash off to see the unique treasures of art in Padua- maybe a total relaxation programme is a good idea.  North east from Rovigo you will find the Wellness resort in the volcanic mountains of Euganeen.  The famous baths that can be found here were visited by the Romans in order to get themselves fit again and now perfect for tourists to relax after sight seeing.  Lovers of the history of literature will definitely get their monies worth south of Euganeen.   In Casa di Petrarca, the famous poet Francesco Petrarca (1304-1374) lived his final years and is also buried here.

A Sight That You Will Never Forget in an Instant!!

Now it’s time to go to Padua in order to see the most important works of art.  The perspective Frescoes from Giotto (1266-1237) with scenes from the life of Jesus which can be found inside the Cappella degli Scrovegni- they forever changed European painting.
