1. Brokerage
CarDelMar arranges the rental of vehicles in many locations at competitive prices. The rental agreement is concluded with the local car hire company under their terms and conditions. Please note the information given on our voucher and documentation.

2. What’s included?

a) Standard: Package with excess payable in the event of damage or loss.

The prices quoted include the following 

  • Unlimited mileage
  • Third party insurance (the extent of the indemnity is usually limited in accordance with the terms and conditions of the local car hire companies or additional coverage taken out through the local car hire company: see clause 22 below)
  • Comprehensive and vehicle theft coverage (with excess)
  • Airport taxes and delivery as well any other local taxes were necessary, unless the conditions stated on the documentation or voucher mention an exception.

  • Comprehensive and vehicle theft cover (with excess and, where applicable, CarDelMar will refund the excess except in case of damage to glass and/or tyres: see clause 23 below)
  • Airport taxes and delivery, together with any other local taxes where applicable, unless provided otherwise in the conditions contained in the documentation or voucher.

c) All-Inclusive Plus: Package with refund of excess including damage to glass and tyres

The published prices always include following:

  • Unlimited mileage
  • Third party liability (indemnity limit according to general terms & conditions of local car hire company, see paragraph 22)
  • Comprehensive insurance and theft protection including damage to glass and tyres (with excess, where applicable CarDelMar will refund the excess, see paragraph 23.) and airport taxes as well as local taxes, unless voucher states otherwise.

d) All-Inclusive Gold

The All-Inclusive Gold package is available only for USA destinations. This package includes the following benefits:

  • the All-Inclusive package
  • all additional drivers free of charge
  • a full tank free of charge

The ‘Best Price Guarantee’ offers to match the rate of competitive prices; the price match is only applicable when submitted with the required information. The ‘Best Price Guarantee’ refund is applicable for competitive prices submitted within 24hrs of the CarDelMar booking, if the booking status is ‘on request’; the ‘Best Price Guarantee’ offer is not valid. Both the CarDelMar rate and the rate of the competitor should be in the same currency and include the same car hire conditions. (Payment of the refund and matching of prices is subject to the CarDelMar conditions) These include:

  • Pick-up dates,
  • Drop-off dates,
  • Pick-up location,
  • Drop-off location
  • Insurance policies (benefits and coverage)
  • Extras (incl. extra fees, e.g. taxes)


In addition to the above conditions, you are also required to send proof in the form of a screen shot of where you have found a better rate.

4. Online or Hotline Reservation

You can reserve your car hire through our website or our call centre. After making a reservation, the customer will receive a voucher by fax, post or email. The voucher confirms the reservation and is to be presented to the local car hire company, which is making the rental agreement with you, when you collect the vehicle.

5. Cancellation of car hire

CarDelMar reserves its right to withdraw from a reservation within 7 days following the confirmation.

If the hirer is unable to complete the rental contract (due to bankruptcy or insolvency etc) CarDelMar will be exempt from their obligations. CarDelMar reserves its right to withdraw from a reservation, inside of 7 days of the reservation confirmation, should the local hire car company turn down the rental of the vehicle.  CarDelMar will contact you by Fax, E-mail or letter.  Should your payment already be completed, it will be fully reimbursed.

6. Obligation of the client

E-mail account capacity and incoming E-mails delivery.

It is your obligation to attend to the status of your E-mail account capacity and to consequently make sure incoming E-mails are well delivered at anytime. It is your obligation to ensure your E-mail account capacity allows you to be notified about incoming E-mails at the time these are sent. CarDelMar can NOT be held responsible for any damages incurred from any E-mail account capacity limitations you may be faced with and which should have been prevented by yourself. Your E-mail account capacity remains your sole responsibility.

7. Payment

Payment by credit card on booking confirmation date.

Payment can only be made by credit card. We debit your credit card automatically for the full amount of the booking on the day of the booking confirmation.

8. Reservation by vehicle group

Reservations are to be made by vehicle group only, not by model.

You cannot reserve specific vehicle models with us. The reservation is made by vehicle group based on size, performance or type. If, however, you wish to reserve a certain model, we will try to make this model available. If a vehicle in the agreed group is not available at the time of collection, a vehicle from a higher group will be provided at no extra cost.

9. Rental Contract

The rental contract is concluded locally between the client and the local rental company.

The rental contract is concluded locally between the client and the local car hire company. Please read the rental agreement carefully and keep a copy for reference.

10. Rental Period

A rental day corresponds to 24 hours. Any vehicle dropoff delay will incur additional charges.

The vehicle can only be rented for complete days. A rental day corresponds to a 24 hour time period from the collection of the rental vehicle. Vehicles must be returned no later than the time stated in the contract. Please note: a one hour delay will be charged one full rental day and the additional time will be charged at a rate set by the local car hire company and not at the special rate the booking was originally based upon. Please note that no refunds are given for the early return of any vehicle.

11. Cancellation of the reservation or non-collection of the vehicle

You can cancel your booking but  be aware of our cancellation conditions and fees.

You can cancel your booking with CarDelMar up to 24 hours before the start of the hire period.

The cancellation can be made via our hotline 0800/ 98 79 087 (free phone) or per e-mail cancellation@cardelmar.com. If you make a cancellation, you will receive a copy of the cancellation order for your records.

There is no charge for cancellations made within 24 hours after the original booking, provided that the reservation has been made more than 48 hours before the start of the rental period.

Flat rate cancellation fees are charged as follows

  • 4 days or more before pickup date: £19.00
  • 4 days or less before pickup date: £ 49.00
  • If the cancellation is made less than 24 hours before the pickup date or if the vehicle is not collected (including if this is due to the customer’s failure to comply with local partner’s terms and conditions), the customer shall have an obligation to pay the full rental charge.


Please Note: Should the vehicle not be picked up on the date stipulated, the availability of the vehicle cannot be guaranteed as the local car rental company has the right to otherwise reserve the vehicle for hire.  In this case there is no right to a refund of the cost of the car rental.

The customer may also provide proof that full payment of the rental charge, in the event of  cancellation of the reservation or non-collection, has caused a loss.

Please be informed that you have the possibility to purchase a cancellation insurance in accordance with paragraph 12.

12. Cancellation Waiver

Avoid cancellations penalties by taking our £7.50 cancellation waiver

For just 7.50 GBP, CarDelMar will waive your liability to pay any cancellation charges if you cancel your booking more than 24 hours before the agreed time of collection. If you wish to purchase this waiver, you must do so at the time of booking.

13. Reservation Amendments

Amendments of confirmed reservations are possible but always subject to the rules and confirmation of the local car hire company.

All changes to a reservation require confirmation from the local car hire company. It is not generally possible to change a reservation less than 24 hours before the agreed collection date. We will, however, endeavour to process any amendments you may make, subject to availability.

You can extend your reservation by contacting our call centre at least 24 hours before the end of the agreed rental period. If you agree the extension locally with the local car hire company, we cannot guarantee that the extension will be offered on the same special terms as the original booking. The local car hire company is entitled to charge their own rates. Please inform us immediately of any alterations that directly affect the planned collection of the rented vehicle, e.g. change of arrival time at the collection point. Any modifications regarding changing your car hire agency are not possible.

14. Vehicle Collection

Vehicle pick up and drop off at airport usually possible

The rented vehicle is usually collected from your destination airport or alternatively from a collection point, with a free shuttle service to take the customer from the airport to the collection point. If hotel delivery is possible or has been pre-agreed, there may be additional charges, depending on the terms and conditions of the local car hire company.

15. Repairs

Do not arrange or undertake any repairs to the vehicle without written approval!

In the event of an accident or breakdown, please inform the local car hire company immediately. Repairs should never be made to the rental vehicle without permission.

16. Accessories

Extras must be paid to the local car hire company directly.

Additional accessories such as child safety seats, snow chains etc. are available, at extra charge, from many local car hire companies.

17. Driving License and Passport/ Identity Card

You are required to present a valid driving licence and ID card upon arrival!

Please note local requirements. Normally the driver and any additional drivers should have held a driving licence Type 3 (Type B EU standard) for at least one year. In certain countries, drivers are required to have held a valid driving licence for at least three years. A valid passport or identity card must be presented when collecting the vehicle:

Some local car hire companies only allow an additional driver to be included on the payment of a surcharge.

18. Minimum Age

Please be aware of minimum age requirements!

Some local car hire companies demand a minimum age for all first and additional drivers. Please note the relevant advice.

19. Deposit

A valid credit card is required to pay the security deposit upon pick up.

All local car rental companies have the right to demand a deposit. Therefore, a credit card issued under the name of the driver is obligatory. Please follow the advice given on your voucher and the advice under the hire conditions of the vehicle that you have selected.

20. Refuelling

Tank conditions:
empty to empty
full to full
full to empty

There are three options for filling the fuel tank on return of the vehicle:

1. Empty to empty - i.e. the fuel tank is empty when the car hire is collected and is to be returned empty.
2. Full to full  i.e. the tank is full when the car hire is collected and is to be returned full.
3. Full to empty - i.e. the tank is full when the car hire is collected and is to be returned empty.
In this case the full tank of fuel must be paid for in advance, on collection.

Please note which of the above options is quoted in your car hire company rental contact, in order to avoid any extra costs.

21. One-Way Car Hire

One way-rentals may be authorized in some cases. Please be aware of additional charges.

In many destinations, the rented vehicle can be dropped at a different station from that where it was rented, provided that the drop-off station is in the same country as the pick-up station. Please note any additional costs and the associated terms before reservation. One-way car hire in Spain is possible ONLY if the car hire duration is of 3 days or more.

22. Third Party Vehicle Insurance

Please note that the third party insurance provided by many local car hire companies has a limit on the indemnity. Below is a non-binding list of the indemnity limit offered by car hire companies in different countries. Please ask the local car hire companies for their current indemnity limit. In the event of a claim where the amount of damage and/or loss (in respect of persons and property) exceeds the indemnity limit, the amount in excess of the limit is not covered.

It is recommended that additional insurance with a higher indemnity limit is taken out with the local car hire company.

Please note that the relevant indemnity limits information related to your booking is listed on your voucher.

Please note: The third party insurance does not cover any damage to the rented vehicle (see clause 23: the cover offered under the fully comprehensive insurance package).

Prior to your departure, make sure you read the conditons of   indemnity limits application by your destination local rental company.

The insurance cover is also no longer valid, if the driver was under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication rendering him/her unfit to drive.

In the event of damage, the claimant must report the incident immediately, at the latest on the following day, to ensure that the insurance cover is not invalidated. The address to contact can be found in the insurance documentation.

23. Comprehensive Cover

Comprehensive cover or equivalent  insurance coverage is included in the rental price.

The rental price quoted by CarDelMar includes fully comprehensive cover, or similar, in respect of damage to the car hire, together with theft insurance. Please read the information on the voucher relating to the scope of the cover and exclusions.

If the local car hire company only offers cover with an excess payable, it will retain the agreed excess amount in the event of damage; this sum will be deducted from your deposit. The excess shall be held by the local car hire company and charged to your credit card.


Refund of excess applies in case of damage to glass and/or tyres with an All-Inclusive Plus Package booking.


The amount of excess differs from country to country. Please note the terms issued by the local car hire company. In the case of damage, the excess amount shall be deducted from your deposit and charged to your credit card. CarDelMar will, however, refund the excess to you.

No refund of excess will be given under the listed conditions:

CarDelMar will refund the excess when booking an All-Inclusive, All-Inclusive Plus and All-Inclusive Gold Package except in case of:

  • Damage due to failure to observe the general terms and conditions of rental, especially damage caused by driving on unmade roads.
  • Breach of the provisions of clause 23 of the general terms and conditions.
  • In circumstances were the lessee causes deliberate damage or causes damage by reckless driving, the lessee is liable for the full cost of the damage caused.
  • Loss of or damage to the car keys.
  • Damage to tyres and glass with the All-Inclusive package.
  • Damage to the roof and undercarriage/oil sump.
  • In all cases where the local insurance company refuses to meet the damage claim
  • The excess payable under package with excess will not be refunded in the case of damage.
  • Loss resulting from the theft of personal belongings left in the hired car and consequential loss, e.g. vehicle recovery costs, hotel costs etc. and the loss of personal belongings.

The above listed cases are not included under fully comprehensive cover. Therefore, you are liable for the excess. However, it is possible to take out additional insurance, in the form of super LDW. (for more information please see under the heading: Additional Insurance). Consequential costs such as vehicle recovery fees, service fees, hotels, telephone charges etc. are not generally refunded. CarDelMar can not be held liable if total car hire period is hindered and/or reduced due to a vehicle breakdown.

24. What to do in the event of loss and/or damage

Please respect the following guidelines in case of an accident.

If you are injured or the vehicle is stolen you must

  • immediately contact the local car hire company
  • inform the police and they will issue a police report.
  • a police report is required when the local partners rental terms state that it is, or when any party is injured as a result of damage/accident.
  • when you return the hired vehicle, ensure that the car hire agency compiles a damage report to be signed by the local car hire company and you.

Please submit ALL required documents:
-damage report
-police report      
-copy of the
 rental contract
-proof of
 payment(s)

To obtain a refund of the excess, under an all-inclusive agreement, the following documentation is to be submitted to CarDelMar:

  • The damage report signed by the local car hire company and by you.
  • The police report
  • A copy of the rental contract
  • Proof that the deposit was paid in cash or charged to your credit card.

25. Additional Insurance

Additional insurance can be  taken out directly at your destination local car hire company.

Most local car hire companies offer additional insurance packages, in particular Personal Accident Insurance (PAI). The prices and terms of these additional insurance packages should be requested directly from the local car hire company. CarDelMar cannot refund the cost of such additional cover.

26. Warranty

CarDelMar can not be held liable but is willing to assist you in settling issues you may encounter with the local car hire company.

As a broker, CarDelMar has no control over the contract terms offered by the local car hire companies. However CarDelMar is willing to offer its assistance in solving problems that might occur between you and the local car hire company.

27. Liability

Prior to your departure, please read carefully  CarDelMar Terms and Conditions.

CarDelMar is liable for its own actions and performance in case of wilful misconduct or gross negligence. In cases of negligence, CarDelMar will only accept liability in cases of injury of the contract-substantial obligations. The liability of CarDelMar is to an extent limited to contract-defined and foreseen damages, and the maximum amount of liability is limited to the 10-time value of the contract with the local car hire company. The exclusions and limitations of liability mentioned above do not apply to damages resulting in loss of life, personal injury or harm to health.

28. Acts of God/ Force Majeure

No liability in case of acts of God and Force Majeure

CarDelMar cannot be held liable for Acts of God/Force Majeure. This includes war, unrest, aeroplane hi-jacking, terrorist attacks, all natural catastrophes, power cuts, strikes, lock outs and similar events.

29. Place of Jurisdiction

Governing law

For all disputes arising from any aspect of this contract, Hamburg is the agreed place of jurisdiction, provided that you have no inland place of jurisdiction or that your place of residence has moved abroad after the conclusion of the contract or if your place of residence is unknown at the time of institution of legal proceedings.

30. Country of Jurisdiction

German law

Your contract is subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.
