Benidorm - More than meets the eye
The coastal town of Benidorm in the Alicante province is a real tourist trap, nicknamed the Manhattan of Spain - perfect for car hire in Spain. The skyline is actually reminiscent of the New York and it comes in second after the Big Apple in terms of skyscrapers per square metre. It is the number one worldwide when counting high rise density: 345 buildings have more than 12 storeys. This is a superlative holiday resort and population grows by factor ten during the summer. The highest building in town is Gran Hotel Bali, opened in 2002. The hotel has 52 floors spread over 210 m (688 ft), a brand new landmark for Benidorm.
With car hire in Benidorm - 'the city that really never sleeps'
The town’s slogan is “Benidorm never sleeps”, and they do take it seriously. With 600 bars, pubs, and clubs, life is buzzing continuously around the clock, and hard-partying youth do not seem to return to their hotel beds at all. Once high season and burning heat are over, seniors are attracted by the mild climate, some of them spending the whole winter season here. But this doesn’t mean the town finally comes to a rest, as young families also appreciate the excellent infrastructure and wealth of organised activities. Good infrastructure makes it ideal to travel around in your car hire.
Park up the hire car and enjoy the easy life in Benidorm
Kids love the two large theme parks. Aqualandia Benidorm, a water-themed leisure park, covers an area of 150,000 square metres, stuffed with fun rides and adventure pools. Extensive green areas offer plenty of room for picnics and tanning in the sun, and countless restaurants, cafés, and shops cater to the visitors. Your car hire will wait for you on a toll-free car park.
Discover more to Benidorm than other tourists wth car hire
Benidorm is situated on the Gulf of Alicante, 45 km (32 mi) south-east of the town of Alicante. Tourists spend most of their time on one of two beaches. Playa de Levante is 2.5 km (1.7 mi) long and is immensely popular, a fact which is reflected in the fact that it overflows with sun worshippers during high season. A pedestrianised promenade separates it from the long line of hotels and restaurants on the waterfront. Playa de Poniente is roughly the same length but usually less crowded. Both beaches are separated by a rocky patch of land reaching out into the sea. This is the point where the once sleepy fishing village turned into a crowded beach resort in the 1960s. The Old Town has withstood the change and the sense of tranquility has mostly been preserved. The old buildings now house souvenir shops, jewellers, bars, and restaurants.
